If so, ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) wants to hear from you!

ACAT is seeking an Assistant Director to manage key aspects of the Tribunal’s frontline registry operations.

The Assistant Director, ACAT Operations is a diverse and demanding leadership role with a strong operational focus. Working closely with another Assistant Director, you will be responsible for the holistic delivery of high‑quality, efficient and responsive registry services, supporting ACAT members, staff and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.

Your average workday may include leading and managing registry teams to deliver consistently professional service; responding to complex people management and human resources matters; coaching and mentoring team leaders to build capability and confidence; developing and refining procedures to support continuous improvement; analysing data and performance metrics to inform decision‑making; undertaking workforce planning, recruitment and onboarding to ensure teams succeed; and managing security issues and responding to emergencies when required.

We are looking for an independent, proactive and resilient leader who thrives in a demanding operational setting.

* Strong problem‑solving capability and sound, evidence‑based judgement.
* The ability to lead with composure and focus during periods of pressure or crisis.
* A commitment to fostering a positive, respectful and high‑performing workplace culture.
* The capacity to think critically and strategically about service delivery and operational improvement.

Ultimately, you are a steady presence in challenging situations, motivated by finding practical solutions and deeply committed to supporting our people and organisational objectives.

If this sounds like you, we would love you to join our team.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community.
