About the role

The Nurse Unit Manager – Central Wing, Inpatient Rehabilitation Centre, is responsible for the provision of leadership and strategic direction to ensure delivery of a high-quality clinical practices and patient care. The Nurse Unit Manager provides the tactical management of operational, financial, human and information resources within their area, liaising with the relevant clinical and support services leaders.

The Nurse Unit Manager is a key leader within of the Directorate and Nursing leadership teams at Barwon Health and as such will contribute to the overall management, performance and outcomes of the organisation by developing professional and collaborative partnerships and participating in committees and groups to support this.

Central Wing is a 30 bed inpatient rehabilitation unit specialising in supporting patients through their geriatric rehabilitation journey and is an integral part of Barwon Health's Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) stream of care. You will work with an innovative team who maintain extensive knowledge and experience who pride themselves on providing high quality patient centred care in an environment that has modern, well-equipped facilities.

Key responsibilities

* Provide clinical and operational leadership for the effective management of the ward, including access and patient flow
* Manage budgets, rosters, staffing levels and skill mix to meet service delivery requirements
* Lead, support and develop nursing staff, including recruitment, performance development and coaching
* Drive quality improvement, safety and compliance with professional standards and organisational policies

What ee're looking for

* A Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and demonstrated senior clinical leadership experience
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant nursing specialty and/or health services management (or working towards)
* Proven ability to manage teams, resources and change in a complex healthcare environment
* Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills
* A commitment to professional development, continuous improvement and evidence-based practice
