Choosing a career is a big decision, but it's not always easy to figure out what a job is really like. At Work Window, we use Virtual Reality to immerse people in real-world work environments through interactive, hands-on simulations. Our mission is simple: help people discover careers they're passionate about and build the skills they need to succeed.
We're growing and looking for a talented Senior 3D Artist to join our team on a fixed-term contract. You'll play a key role in bringing new career paths to life and ensuring our simulations look and feel amazing on our target platform, Standalone VR devices.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior 3D Artist, you'll be a creative leader in bringing our VR career simulations to life. You'll work closely with the team to:
 * Create a wide range of high-quality, lifelike 3D assets for our VR simulations, including characters, environments, and props.
 * Become a performance wizard, expertly optimizing polygon counts, textures, and shaders to ensure everything runs smoothly on Standalone VR Devices.
 * Create smooth, realistic animations for objects and characters to enhance the feeling of immersion.
 * Collaborate with our designers and engineers to solve technical challenges and ensure your art works perfectly within the simulation.
 * Champion the overall visual style, applying high-quality textures and lighting to bring your models to life while keeping everything consistent.
What We're Looking For
 * Solid Experience: At least 4–5 years of experience as a 3D Artist, ideally in game development or working with modern game engines.
 * An Awesome Portfolio: A strong portfolio that showcases your ability to create immersive, optimized, VR-ready assets.
 * The Right Tools: Proficiency with tools like Maya, Blender, Photoshop, Substance Painter, and Character Creator.
 * Deep Experience in Unity: A strong understanding of the Unity engine is vital. You should be comfortable integrating assets, working with materials, and understanding the rendering pipeline.
 * Technical Art Skills: You're not afraid to get technical. The ability to create shaders and a strong grasp of technical art workflows will be highly valued.
 * VR Know-How: A solid grasp of game development workflows and the unique challenges of creating for VR. Specific experience developing for Standalone Devices is a huge plus.
 * Confident Ownership: You're a confident decision-maker who can own your work from start to finish. In our small team, you'll have the autonomy to lean on your expertise, especially when the Art Director isn't available.
 * Great Communication: You're a clear communicator who enjoys collaborating. We use Slack to keep in sync, so you'll be comfortable sharing progress and ideas there.
 * A Habit of Documenting: You believe in documenting your process and sharing what you learn. We use Confluence to keep our knowledge organised, and you'll play a big part in building that resource.
The Details
 * Location: We're a Brisbane-based studio, but we're open to a flexible arrangement with some remote work.
 * Contract: This is a fixed-term contract 12-month contract. However, for the right person, there is strong potential for this role to transition into a permanent, full-time position with us.
 * Start Date: As soon as possible.
