About the role
Are you driven by a passion for shaping the future of actuarial science? Curtin University invites applications for a Lecturer (ALB level) or Senior Lecturer (ALC level) (depending on your experience and qualifications) position in Actuarial Science. This continuing full‐time opportunity offers a chance to make a meaningful impact on the next generation of actuaries through dynamic teaching and your hands‐on industry experience.
We seek individuals with current industry expertise who are eager to inspire and mentor students in this rapidly evolving field. You will teach actuarial students, coordinate units, develop engaging materials, design curricula, and supervise students at various levels, making your role crucial to our students' educational journeys.
Selection Criteria
* Professional accreditation as an Actuary, ideally a Fellow, Associate or nearly qualified actuary, with at least five years of relevant, current industry experience.
* Proven high level teaching skills (tertiary or professional level) with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching and learning.
* A strong understanding of teaching theory and contemporary educational practice in Actuarial Science.
* Demonstrated experience in education, combining curriculum development and co‐ordination of learning experiences with Actuarial Science expertise.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead teaching and learning initiatives and provide mentoring to less experienced staff.
* Demonstrated high‐level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross‐cultural sensitivity.
Desirable experience
* An emerging record of peer‐reviewed publications.
* A demonstrated ability to contribute to scholarship of teaching and learning with an emerging record of success in winning grants to support projects and initiatives.
* Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead major curriculum and/or research initiatives and provide mentoring to less experienced staff.
* Evidence of an established national reputation and growing international profile, and a record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships.

What We Offer You
This continuing ALC level role attracts a remuneration of $144,512 – 166,354 pro‐rata + 17% superannuation, or an ALB level attracting a remuneration of $118,308 - $140,147 pro‐rata + 17% superannuation.
