About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a dynamic team within a South Australian State Government department. This position is responsible for providing proactive business analysis, budget management, and financial services that support operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive business advice, financial reporting, and cost centre management
Provide accurate and timely financial services and general accounting support
Collect, analyse, and report statistical data to support management planning and decision-making
Assist with budget management, forecasting, reconciliations, and audit requirements
Drive continuous improvement strategies for savings and revenue opportunities
Develop and review policies, practices, and procedures for business outcome improvements
Analyse workforce statistics and KPIs for efficient cost centre management
Coordinate reporting and compliance with organisational and government requirements
Uplift financial acumen across the team through staff training and information sessions
Support strategic planning and business case development
Essential Requirements
Demonstrated experience in financial management and significant budget development/maintenance
Expertise in business analysis for complex financial accounting and reconciliations
Sound knowledge of budgetary processes, asset accounting, and financial evaluation techniques
Strong research and analytical skills for forecasting trends and developing business plans
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a multi-skilled team
Advanced time management and organisational skills
Experience with Microsoft Office applications and financial databases

Desirable Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, Commerce, or a relevant discipline
Knowledge of South Australian Government financial guidelines and Australian Accounting Standards
Experience with asset and financial databases (e.g., SAMIS, Basware, Oracle)
