The Organisation

The Bidwern Butj Uni is a partnership between Warddeken Land Management and Mimal Land Management, dedicated to supporting the people and landowners of West and Central Arnhem Land by delivering benefits to Country and culture.

Warddeken and Mimal lead holistic ranger programs, including highly valued women’s ranger teams, focusing on savanna burning, biodiversity conservation, native species monitoring, invasive species control and intergenerational knowledge sharing.

The Bidwern Butj Uni addresses gaps in training by delivering fit-for-purpose professional development that empowers Bininj staff to progress from ranger roles to senior leadership positions. Backed by a five-year funding commitment, this Bininj-led initiative is trialling innovative approaches to adult education and ranger training, setting a benchmark for on-Country learning.

Supported by the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, the Uni delivers tailored Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills training to enhance job readiness, further education opportunities and community engagement.

The Opportunity

The SEE Training & Development Officer will work closely with the SEE Program Coordinator, Bidwern Butj Uni, SEE Project teams, and project partners to deliver impactful training across Mimal and Warddeken Land Management. This role focuses on scheduling, delivering, and evaluating Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills training to support participants' personal and professional growth.

As well as:

* Develop resources and implement a two-year training project across Arnhem Land

* Manage the scheduling and delivery of tailored training packages

* Provide quality documentation, reporting and project evaluation

* Spend two weeks per month in Arnhem Land, with the remainder working from the Darwin office

Role location is 50% in Arnhem Land and 50% in Darwin.

About You

* You are a qualified Trainer with knowledge of the various frameworks; Core Skills, Non-Accredited Training and Digital Literacy Skills

* You are committed to delivering culturally relevant training, meeting diverse learner needs and fostering a safe, supportive learning atmosphere

* You are passionate about empowering Aboriginal communities through education

* You thrive in a collaborative, dynamic and remote environment

* You are a team player willing to support an organisation who values inclusivity

* You are a clear communicator

* You develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders 

* You are proficient in MS Office; Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel 

* You have a current manual driver’s licence with experience in off-road driving; and  

* You have a current Ochre Card, or the ability to obtain one

* Competitive salary: $80,000 - $95,000 plus 12.5% super and salary sacrifice
