About the role
You will be accountable for developing the strategic maintenance strategy across Ampol's Convenience Retail store network, ensuring balanced is maintained across budget and cost control, operational efficiencies, and store and contractor safety. This position is responsible for a span of key activities including developing and maintaining maintenance programs across Retail sites, along with commercial strategy and engagement with key vendors, and technical oversight of maintenance execution.
Key responsibilities
* Develop and deliver the maintenance strategy for all retail sites, ensuring safety, efficiency, and long‐term asset performance.
* Build and manage capital maintenance plans, including lifecycle strategies for equipment, building systems, and critical infrastructure.
* Drive continuous improvement to minimise downtime, optimise costs, and strengthen operational performance across the network.
* Manage key internal and external partnerships, including contractors, trades, and service providers, to ensure high‐quality service delivery.
* Strengthen commercial outcomes by identifying opportunities to enhance vendor arrangements and negotiating effective service agreements.
* Oversee budget management, monitoring spend, identifying savings, and ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
* Ensure all maintenance activities comply with WHS regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
* Lead risk management for infrastructure, equipment, and contractor activity, including audits and corrective action implementation.
Qualifications & Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
* Extensive experience managing reliability maintenance or engineering functions
* Sound understanding of risk management systems and processes
* Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience managing commercial agreements of up to $10mil+ annually
* Strong leadership skills with a track record of delivering outcomes
* Working understanding of the principals for project and portfolio management
* Analytical thinker, data driven with the ability to leverage data insights across multiple layers to make informed decisions and recommendations
