**FULL-TIME OFFICE MANAGER / SENIOR MEDICAL SECRETARY**

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Office Manager / Medical Secretary to provide high-quality patient service and administrative support to specialist Ophthalmologists.
Working for two ophthalmologists, you will primarily be the first point of contact. As such, you must have a genuine desire to provide high-quality service to patients, referring practitioners and other stakeholders. The primary responsibility is to provide timely, friendly and professional patient administration services, patient-focused care and efficient operation of the practice.
There is no staff reporting, the position is unsupervised and needs to take full responsibility for all actions.
This exciting role requires a high-quality approach to customer service, an excellent telephone manner, be flexible, a good level of computer literacy and be the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
**Days and hours of work are as follows**:
8.00 am to 4.30 pm Monday to Friday
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Meeting and greeting patients on arrival to the practice
- Scheduling patient appointments
- Rostering and monitoring sessional orthoptists as required
- History set up - notifying of referral and appointment reminders
- Follow-up test results
- Arranging surgical theatre lists including hospital consents, forms and instructing patients
- Liaising with private/public hospitals, anaesthetists and various medical organisations
- Invoicing and receipting payments, following up on outstanding accounts
- Knowledge of Medicare and various health fund rebates/policies
- Health fund and Medicare claiming
- Medical audio typing
- Use of Somersoft with the prospect of updating to new software
- Operating EFTPOS
- Banking duties
- General cleaning duties as required
- Other duties as required
**Essential criteria**:
- Previous experience within specialist medical rooms
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer literate (currently changing software and updating practice to become paperless)
- Well-presented, friendly, courteous and accommodating
- Represent the practice in a confident and positive manner
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patient and practice information
- Ability to work cooperatively and independently
