About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the 'Courts Group'.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria plays a critical role in responding to family violence by prioritising the safety of women and children and holding perpetrators accountable.
The Family Violence Registrar supports the Court's response by working closely with the judiciary, court staff, police, legal practitioners and support services to manage family violence and intervention order matters. The role provides specialist support to court users, assists parties to understand court processes, and facilitates referrals to appropriate services.
Operating in a complex and sensitive environment, the Family Violence Registrar exercises sound judgement and professionalism while building strong relationships with key stakeholders and community agencies. The role works collaboratively with the Court Coordinator on the listing of family violence matters and with the Family Violence Programs and Initiatives Unit to enhance service delivery.
In conjunction with senior management, the Family Violence Registrar leads and supervises the regional family violence team, providing guidance and performance oversight.
About You
* Must be a qualified Court Registrar and proven experience performing the duties of a Registrar within the Magistrates' Court of Victoria
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of family violence dynamics and the jurisdiction of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria.
* Demonstrated experience leading teams and supervising junior staff
