Our client, Department of Education, are currently seeking a Regional Housing Coordinator for a initial contract until end of June 2026 with likely 12-mth extension option.
Your Opportunity
The Department of Education is piloting a new Regional Housing Coordination Program to strengthen the management of subsidised teacher housing across Queensland. In this role, you will provide dedicated property management expertise to support schools and Local Accommodation Committees (LACs) in delivering safe, compliant, and effective housing services for teachers.
This role offers the chance to make a direct difference to regional schools and communities by reducing administrative burden on Principals and school staff, improving compliance with tenancy legislation, and ensuring housing services contribute to the department’s teacher attraction and retention strategy.
You will work regionally, as part of a small team, and be the critical link between local school-based housing activities and central Housing Infrastructure functions.
In this role, you will:
- Support tenancy and leasing functions by coordinating inspections, managing complex property matters, and providing expert advice to schools and LACs.
- Facilitate maintenance and repairs by coordinating works with QBuild and contractors, escalating issues as required, and ensuring timely resolution of housing-related concerns.
- Strengthen compliance by applying tenancy legislation, departmental policy, and procedures consistently across your regional portfolio.
- Contribute to system implementation by supporting the roll-out of the Employee Housing System (EHS), ensuring accurate data entry, and embedding new processes into local practice.
- Provide high-quality advice to school leaders, Regional Directors, and central Housing Infrastructure staff, ensuring housing management decisions are well-informed and transparent.
- Build collaborative relationships with Principals, LAC members, industrial representatives, and regional stakeholders to ensure consistent and sustainable housing practices.
- Reduce workload pressures for school-based staff by undertaking administrative and operational housing tasks, enabling them to focus on their core teaching and leadership responsibilities.
- Model public sector values by demonstrating accountability, professionalism, and a commitment to service delivery in regional communities.
- Actively participate in teams and projects to undertake analysis, design, review and implementation of infrastructure, planning and asset management related business activities, systems, policies, projects and programs of work.
- Provide advice to clients in relation to division services, and to Directors and Managers to inform advice to departmental stakeholders across a range of infrastructure, planning and portfolio management issues.
