- Part time (0.4 FTE), fixed term opportunity until January 2027
- Join one of the leading Psychology departments in Australia
- Base Salary (HEO5) $89,755- $100,495 p.a. pro rata + 17% superannuation

About the prospect

The School of Psychology is currently seeking a Research Assistant to provide technical and operational support across various projects.

The role involves assisting with the development and implementation of research initiatives, aimed at improving outcomes for individuals and communities.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

- support ongoing research activity at the School’s Gambling Treatment and Research Clinic

- support the design and implementation of research protocols, ensuring adherence to standards and providing advice on relevant regulations and procedures

- conduct data collection, statistical analysis, literature reviews, and maintain accurate research documentation

- assist with specific research tasks including experiments, assessments, and liaising with clinical or academic collaborators

- provide administrative and technical research support, including managing records, scheduling participants, and coordinating study logistics

- contribute to the preparation of research publications and ethics applications, ensuring compliance with ethical and WHS guidelines

- undertake additional research-related tasks and projects as directed by senior staff.

About you

- holds a tertiary qualification with a bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in psychology/mental health

- has experience working as a research assistant in an academic team focused on promoting behavioural change and/or digital interventions for mental health

- demonstrates a good understanding of, and interest in, gambling behaviour and the associated harms

- has experience with contributing to the publication of peer-reviewed journal articles

- is experienced with co-design and/or community outreach efforts to design and inform research

- demonstrates an understanding of behavioural change theories and how these can be applied to interventions to improve physical and mental health and/or prevent harm

- possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with strong conflict resolution abilities, sound judgement, and a high level of discretion

- have proven experience in data analysis and reporting using statistical tools, along with expertise in conducting literary searches and preparing reviews

- demonstrate a sound understanding of WHS policies and laboratory safety procedures, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and managing competing priorities.
