Experienced soil field technician

Alliance Geotechnical
Posted: 14 March
Offer description

Established in 2003, Alliance Geotechnical provides innovative specialty consultancy and testing services on large scale civil and infrastructure projects. Over the last 10 years we have grown from 20 to 150 employees and we now work on a diverse range of signature projects with blue-chip clients such as CPB, John Holland, Acciona, Ausgrid, Jemena, Downer and Fulton Hogan. For example, we have worked on projects in the Sydney Opera House, Western Sydney Airport, Sydney International Speedway and solar farms across Australia, to name just a few. In 2015 we opened our specialty geo-testing laboratory which liaises with universities to provide state-of-the art testing for Tier 1 companies, and which has the best equipment in Australia. Yet none of this would have been possible without our amazing, diverse team, including more than 30 different nationalities.

We are continuously improving our employees’ welfare via innovations such as our well-being allowance that you can use to buy gym shoes, yoga apps or that backyard trampoline. Or maybe you would like to take a longer holiday with our purchased leave scheme. We also help you build your professional expertise by getting you to work in areas that stretch you, or with others who can help you develop your skillset. Our long-term goal is to be known industry-wide as the ‘go-to’ experts in the field, disrupting the market with our innovative practices.

About the Role

We’re expanding our office in Bellambi, and this is your chance to be part of a growing team with a strong mix of experience, from trainee technicians to respected industry veterans.

We’re looking for experienced Soil Field Technicians to take on a variety of responsibilities, including both field and laboratory testing across a broad range of methods, following site Health & Safety procedures, and liaising directly with contractors, clients, and internal staff.

You’ll be joining a supportive team culture and a business that’s growing rapidly, giving you the chance to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage daily site activities of your designated projects to ensure smooth and efficient testing processes.

* Conduct a variety of laboratory tests when not engaged in fieldwork.

* Reviewing site drawings and specifications to ensure accurate testing is undertaken on different projects.

* Ensure continuous compliance with the laboratory management manual and ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

* Oversee the maintenance and calibration of general laboratory equipment to uphold accuracy and reliability.

* Promote a safe working environment by enforcing strict adherence to safe operating procedures and protocols.

* Training and mentoring junior laboratory staff both in the field and the laboratory.

About You

You thrive in a collaborative environment and demonstrate strong initiative, adaptability, and enthusiasm. Great communication skills, great time management, and a dedication to delivering client focused high-quality results should be core to how you operate.

To be a strong contender for this position, you should have:

* Verified experience in laboratory and field testing of soils and aggregates, following Australian and TfNSW standards.

* At least 2-3 years of experience in the industry.

* Understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

* Good time management skills

* Proficiency with laboratory testing equipment and calibrations.

* Strong problem solving skills.

* A valid Australian driver’s licence is required.

* Nuke gauge license

Why Join Us?

* At Alliance, you’ll be contributing to a team that genuinely cares about its people, its clients, and doing great work. We believe the best outcomes come from strong relationships, practical thinking, and a willingness to roll up our sleeves and get the job done—together.

* You'll be joining a workplace where support is genuine, trust is built through action, and respect is part of how we operate every day. We’re the kind of team that answers the phone, not just emails. We value initiative, continuous learning, and a mindset that always looks for a better way to do things. And while we take our work seriously, we also believe it’s important to enjoy the journey.

If you're after a role where you can develop your skills, feel genuinely supported, and be part.
