John Paul College is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Events Assistant to join our Community Engagement team from January 2026. This part‑time role is central to planning, coordinating and delivering a diverse calendar of events while supporting our Parents of JPC community canteens.
Reporting to the Events Manager, the position works closely with department heads, facilities teams, catering staff, volunteers and parents to ensure events run smoothly and create positive experiences for our College community.
Key Responsibilities
* Planning, coordinating and delivering quality internal and external events, managing timelines, budgets and logistics across multiple concurrent projects.
* Supporting event production including collateral design, speaker coordination, AV and security requirements, catering and supplier management.
* Managing food procurement and inventory for community canteens, including stock ordering, receipt and storage of perishable and dry goods.
* Overseeing canteen set‑up, operation and pack‑down, ensuring food preparation meets OH&S standards.
* Coordinating volunteer numbers and managing volunteers on event days, building strong relationships with Parents of JPC and the broader College community.
* Maintaining event databases and systems, responding to enquiries and providing accurate information to diverse stakeholders.

You are a proactive, detail‑oriented professional with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. You demonstrate excellent communication abilities, work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and take pride in delivering quality outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
* Demonstrated experience in event planning, coordination and delivery in hospitality, event operations or community engagement settings.
* Proven experience in food procurement, inventory management and catering operations, including stock ordering and food preparation within health and safety standards.
* Experience working with volunteer teams and community groups.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work to tight deadlines and maintain accurate records and budgets.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated technical competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
* Flexibility, willingness and availability to work early mornings, evenings and Saturdays during term.
* Blue Card/Working with Children check.
