As a Research Accountant, you will be the primary financial contact for Chief Investigators, supporting them from pre-award to project completion. You'll provide expert guidance on managing financial resources, navigating funding rules, and preparing financial reports. This role offers the opportunity to drive process improvements and enhance customer service, collaborating with researchers to maximise their funding potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Provide Financial Expertise: Support Chief Investigators in managing financial resources, navigating funding rules, and preparing financial reports.
* Enhance Research Funding Management: Deliver finance and related support to academic clients, maximising their research funding with expert advice.
* Drive Process Improvements: Collaborate with the Managing Consultant-Research Finance to implement system changes that enhance efficiency and customer service.
* Foster High-Performance Culture: Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, client service focus, and excellence in all operations.

You will have a relevant tertiary degree in accounting and possess strong relationship management skills, financial modelling expertise, and a commitment to providing proactive quality service.
You will also
* Have a CA or CPA, or progressing towards, with relevant experience.
* Possess advanced Excel skills and the ability to interpret financial data.
* Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in evolving environments.
* Have excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Be committed to fostering a high-performance culture focused on improvement.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

Research Finance operates within Research, Innovation & Commercialisation's (RIC) Office of Research Management with a reporting relationship to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Group. Research Finance supports research at the University by ensuring that research funding is managed within the requirements of the funder, and within the university's finance and accounting policies and procedures. It does this by:
* Providing proactive financial advice to researchers, Faculties and other senior stakeholders;
* Timely and accurate reporting and transparency to external funders;
* End to end support across the life of the research project;
