Overview
Department of Cardiothoracic Surgeon are looking for Staff Specialist to join their team.
The purpose of this role is to provide clinical care to patients and manage, on a day-to-day basis, the associated multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care in the cardiothoracic surgery unit, with a focus on thoracic surgery.
This position will comprise 50% cardiac surgery and 50% thoracic aortic surgery.
In addition, this role provides professional leadership within the cardiothoracic surgery as well as training, education and supervision to junior medical staff and other health care members.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical and technical expertise in cardiothoracic surgery.
Provide clinical and professional leadership in steering the future of cardiac and cardiac surgical services at a statewide level via the Statewide cardiac clinical networks.
Provide expertise in thoracic surgery, mitral valve repair surgery and minimally invasive thoracic surgery.
Contribute to research activities and interdisciplinary model of care developments.
Lead and supervise junior medical staff and other health care team members.

This role reports to Director Cardiothoracic Surgeon.
This position fulfils accountabilities and responsibilities in accordance with Metro South's purpose and objectives.
As part of the role, provide expertise in cardiothoracic surgery and thoracic surgery, including related procedures.
