The full-time base salary will range from $132,647 - $140,276.33 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 9) To work flexibly across our St Lucia, Herston and Dutton Park campus About This Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to take on the role of Senior Manager, Health, Safety & Wellness (HSW) within the newly established Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences. This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead the HSW function, fostering a proactive and positive safety culture that promotes the highest standards of practice while ensuring compliance with legislation and national standards. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership and expert advice to the faculty executive, guiding a high-performing team in the delivery of HSW services across multiple campuses and sites. You will play a key role in implementing university-wide HSW strategies in collaboration with central colleagues and contribute to identifying and responding to emerging priorities across the faculty. This position requires flexibility, with responsibilities extending across the St Lucia, Herston, and Dutton Park campuses, offering variety, influence, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a forward-thinking academic environment. Key responsibilities will include: Provide expert advice to senior leadership on Work Health and Safety (WHS) responsibilities, ensuring comprehensive understanding of safety risks and the overall HSW status across the organisation. Lead and manage a high-performing team, fostering staff development, performance, and collaboration with central HSW teams, faculty, and university colleagues. Oversee the delivery of responsive HSW services, ensuring a uniform, best-practice approach and a culture of continuous improvement and service optimisation. Develop and implement strategies, programs, and audits to enhance HSW performance, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and university policies, and engage with regulators and relevant university entities during inspections, audits, and investigations. Demonstrated achievement of personal involvement in driving significant positive health, safety, and wellness–related outcomes in a large, complex organisation. Demonstrated experience in leading change, particularly in enhancing organisational safety climate and culture. Ability to lead teams in a constructive, outcomes-focused manner, and to work collaboratively with management, peers, team members, Divisional stakeholders, and client groups. Experience with the engagement of a range of regulators. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills.
