With a staff compliment of 1400 and a turnover in excess of $100M, UPA is a non-profit Company limited by guarantee.Our services include: -Residential Aged CareHome Care ServicesRetirement VillagesThe OpportunityWe are looking for a Recreational Activities Officer to join our team at Bracken House Hostel in our Western Region.We have a permanent part-time opportunity available that includes being available for weekend work. You will make a difference to our residents by facilitating positive health and wellbeing options for individuals, their families, and carers.As the Recreational Activities Officer, you will drive the energy, engagement, and participation of residents into a range of social, recreational, and cultural activities. You will also lead mental health and wellbeing programs which empower our resident's choices and independence.In fulfilling the role, it is essential that you have:The ability to plan, organise, and lead activities for our residents that will meet social and recreational needs while also promoting independence and increasing quality of life.The ability to assess and document the effectiveness of the programs, by tracking residents' progress and changing the programs as neededMinimum of a Certificate IV in Leisure and LifestyleSenior First Aid Certificate (desirable)Previous experience within an aged care settingHighly developed organisation and time management skillsThe ability to solve problems independentlyExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAn understanding of Resident Rights, Aged Care Accreditation Standards and OutcomesComputer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, internet/intranet skills, email communication, and confidence with smart phones and digital devicesKnowledge of Work Health and SafetyBenefits and perksCompetitive remuneration including eligibility for not-for-profit salary packaging options for permanent employees (up to $15,900 living expenses and $2,650 entertainment benefits, tax free)Access to a Wellness ProgramEmployee Assistance ProgramUp to $500 retention bonus for permanent appointmentsPlatinum Member of the Australian College of NursingSupportive and friendly work environmentWork/life balance and flexible working arrangements availableWorkplace education and support providedOpportunity to make a real difference to your community and the lives of those in needPre-employment screeningThe successful candidate is required to have completed/have a willingness to undertake the following:-Vaccinated in accordance with UPA’s Immunisation and Vaccination Policy.
