About The Role
The Scoping and Development Officer coordinates project design packages for upcoming construction projects across the DTP road network. The role involves undertaking civil design work, managing external consultants to deliver design services, and collaborating with senior engineers to review designs for compliance with engineering standards and best practice. Reporting to a Senior Engineer within the Scoping and Development team, the role provides opportunities to build strong engineering capability while supporting the delivery of transport projects. Key responsibilities include ensuring designs adhere to DTP technical guidelines, preparing fully scoped, feasible and costed project designs in line with DTP design principles and the Project Management Framework, effectively incorporating requirements from multiple stakeholders into project outcomes, and contributing positively to a collaborative design team while supporting safe, inclusive and flexible team operations. Other duties may be assigned in line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic), consistent with the role’s classification, skills and capabilities.

Qualifications And Experience
A Bachelor of Civil Engineering qualification is desirable. A valid driver’s licence is mandatory and must not include any restrictions that would prevent the incumbent from performing the inherent requirements of the role, unless these can be reasonably accommodated by the Department.
