Design and maintain the frameworks that keep governance strong—your attention to detail will set the standard for accountability. You'll bring insight and purpose to initiatives that promote transparency and reinforce integrity across the City.
About the role
Every decision the City makes relies on strong governance—and you'll be part of the team that makes that possible. In this role, you'll focus on the systems and processes that keep our organisation accountable: shaping policies, monitoring legislative changes, and ensuring compliance frameworks run smoothly. One day you might be updating statutory registers and advising on governance reforms; the next, you're supporting an audit or helping coordinate a Freedom of Information request. It's a role where accuracy matters, variety keeps things interesting, and your work builds trust in everything we do.
What you will be doing
Alongside shaping governance systems and supporting compliance initiatives, your day-to-day will include:
* Assisting with the development and review of governance documentation, policies, and local laws.
* Monitoring legislative changes and supporting compliance reform initiatives.
* Maintaining governance systems and statutory reporting platforms (Attain, PRIS).
* Providing backup support for Audit, Risk & Insurance and Council Secretariat functions.
* Coordinating FOI requests and compliance training resource.
What we're looking for
* Knowledge of local government legislation and governance frameworks.
* Experience with compliance systems and strong administrative skills.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, with attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
* Qualifications in business or governance (or progress toward) and relevant experience.
