Teacher Opportunity

Milkwood Steiner School is a thriving educational institution situated in the tropical north of Australia. It serves 170 students from Kindergarten to Class 10, delivering a unique Steiner Curriculum.

The school seeks an additional teacher to join its College as it continues to grow and expand. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with colleagues and community, including demonstrated skills in communication.

A key aspect of this role is working effectively with the College of Teachers, Principal, and Administration Staff. The successful applicant will ideally aspire to work with their appointed class for a minimum of three years.

We encourage applicants who are passionate about children and have an inclusive approach that values diversity and wellbeing. Our teachers are supported by highly experienced teaching assistants and a rich release/specialist subject program.


Key Responsibilities

* Plan, implement, document, assess, and report on teaching programs aligned to the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework.
* Develop educational adjustment plans and other adjustments for individual students based on best practice interventions for inclusion, wellbeing, and learning.
* Maintain accurate records of class attendance, engage with incident reporting, behaviour management reporting, and mandatory reporting as required.
* Supervise a range of student activities including support and welfare programs, Festivals, excursions, assemblies, and other.
* Communicate regularly with parents via email, phone, or face-to-face, via parent-teacher conference and group information sessions.
* Attend relevant meetings, including planning meetings at the discretion of the Principal.


Selection Criteria

* A commitment to the principles of Steiner Education, qualifications, and/or Professional Development in Steiner Education.
* Demonstrated experience planning, delivering, and assessing a child-focused Steiner curriculum, with classroom management and organisational skills.
* A love for children and an inclusive approach that values diversity and wellbeing.
* Excellent understandings of self-care and insight into own support needs.
* Specialist subject area training, skills, strengths, or interests.
