The only thing all Bowen Rail Company employees share is motivation, and that we all live locally. n - \*About the Role\*\* nBowen Rail Company is growing our Network Team, and we are seeking a Track Machine Operator to join our newly establish Resurfacing Team in Bowen. In this role you will safely operate and provide support to maintain the mechanised maintenance fleet. This role will require you to travel across the network and stay in camp - Promote and maintain a safe, secure and healthy work environment by adhering to guidelines, standards, codes and procedures, ensuring work groups and rail safety workers receive appropriate inductions and training - Operate resurfacing machines — including tampers (such as 08-2X) and ballast regulators (such as the Kershaw 4642) — safely and efficiently to meet daily production requirements - Assist trades personnel during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities by supporting inspections, basic servicing tasks, preparation of tools, and providing condition observations to maintainers - Respond promptly to machine defects or irregularities, assisting with safe access, initial checks and information gathering, and escalating to maintenance personnel to enable timely repair - Coordinate with the mechanised maintenance crew regarding machine movements, refuelling, consumables, tools, and general site logistics to ensure smooth daily operations - Conduct pre-start and post-shift checks on all plant and equipment, completing required safety inspections to verify machines are fit for service and reporting any concerns for follow-up by maintainers - Undertake before and after track measurements and visual inspections, reporting any non-conformances or track quality issues to supervisors or technical specialists - Accurately record production data, defect observations, inspection results and all required quality assurance documentation in a timely and precise manner - Perform safe working duties to support Pre & Post Works, Machine Maintenance or Resurfacing Operations in accordance with Network Rules and Procedures - Participate in in-field tasks such as prestart briefings, plant checks, daily site reports and production reporting - Liaise with supervisors, maintainers and operational stakeholders regarding machine condition, operational risks and emerging maintenance needs, ensuring issues are clearly communicated and promptly escalated - Undertake additional duties as required to support safe, reliable and efficient resurfacing and maintenance operations. - \*About You\*\* - \*Core Capabilities\*\* - Manages self with resilience and integrity, particularly in a changing workplace - Works collaboratively, communicates effectively, both written and verbal - Understands the requirements of the position and proactively works to deliver performance aligned outcomes. - \*Essential\*\* - Minimum 3 years' experience in an equivalent position operating and maintaining track machines - SARC - Safely Access the Rail Corridor (Nationally Accredited) – or ability to obtain - General Construction Induction – or ability to obtain - Current Open 'C' Class Driver's License - Computer proficient (Advanced Microsoft Office) - Knowledge of maintenance and servicing in a rail environment - Knowledge of rail safety standards, rules, and procedures - Ability to read and interpret maintenance documents including manuals and drawings - Ability to commute across Bowen Rail Company site locations - Qualified Rail Bound Plant Operator (Medium / Heavy) - Organised with attention to detail and ability to prioritise deadlines - Effective time management and problem-solving skills - \*Desirable\*\* - Qualifications in a related rail discipline.
