We are seeking a Community Outreach Officer to join our team. The Community Connect Worker (Patrol Officer) position is responsible for providing essential services to the community by assisting individuals who are intoxicated, injured, involved in violent situations, or otherwise at risk.
Job Description
The Community Connect team patrols from 1:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday to Saturday. Our goal is to improve community safety and reduce harm related to alcohol and other drugs (AOD), particularly supporting Indigenous people in public places who are AOD-affected or at risk of harm.
Key Responsibilities
1. Confidence and capability to handle difficult situations effectively.
2. Assertiveness in enforcing procedures such as bag searches, alcohol confiscation, and dismissing aggressive clients.
3. Female applicants are preferred due to existing male positions.
4. Physical fitness to assist with wheelchairs, groceries, vehicle cleaning, etc.
5. Criminal record check.
6. Working With Children Check (WWCC).
7. Computer skills for data entry.
8. Good communication skills.
9. Knowledge of the local community is desirable.
10. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) identification required.
11. Driver's license is beneficial.
