Job Title: Education Assistant - Special Needs Branch

Location: Broome, Kimberley Education Region

Salary: Level 2 / 3, $ per hour (EA (Gov) GA)

Unit / Division: Independent Public School – Kimberley Education Region

Work Type: Fixed Term – Full Time, Fixed Term – Part Time, Permanent – Full Time, Permanent – Part Time

Broome Primary School (PS) seeks to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed‑term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies that may arise during the school year and up to the end of Term 1. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Broome is located on the shores of Roebuck Bay in the Kimberley region of Australia and is the traditional home of the Yawuru and Djugun people. It is INSERT DISTANCE FROM PERTH kilometres away from Perth, the capital city of Western Australia.


The Role

* Collaborate with teachers and colleagues to create an inclusive education program that accommodates the needs of students.
* Support the delivery of planned education programs, applying differentiation and intervention strategies to assist students in accessing the curriculum.
* Deliver individual and small group programs, including the use of digital technologies or physical materials.
* Implement innovative and unique strategies that promote inclusive learning, emotional regulation and general well‑being under teacher direction.
* Engage with external services and families to collaboratively plan for students' needs.


Qualifications & Experience

* Experience in supporting students with diverse needs is highly desirable.
* Experience in supporting the delivery of a differentiated and engaging curriculum will be well regarded.


Eligibility

* Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and consent to a INSERT DETAILS and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
* Additional eligibility and training requirements are outlined in the attached Job Description Form (JDF).

* A CV of up to three (3) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position.
* A three (3) page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF:
o Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
o Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
o Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
o Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programmes.
o Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
o Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well‑being of students.
