Opal Bag Solutions operates across Australia to provide tailored high performance paper bag and other paper-based packaging solutions.
We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest packaging companies in Australia as our Thomastown site is looking for 2 experienced mechanical fitters to come onboard (on afternoon shift from 3pm until 11pm)

The key focus of this role will be to:
Provide technical support to the Maintenance and Production teams
Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime, incl.
contribution to routine planned shutdowns
Maintain equipment condition and reliability to achieve company safety, production, and quality targets
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and codes
Assist with breakdowns and conduct troubleshooting analysis as required
Read and understand mechanical and engineering drawings
Have solid knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems
Have exposure and/or experience with automated production environments, including automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) and robotics
Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and assist in the development of job procedures as required

For this role we would ideally like you to have:
Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical (Fitting/Machining) or equivalent qualifications
Experience working with Converting-type production lines in a FMCG environment (highly regarded)
Machining and basic welding experience
Ability to work overtime hours as required
Experience using maintenance management systems (e.g. SAP)
Knowledge & experience in safe working practices and LOTO processes
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Reliable and self-motivated individual with great work ethic
Quick learner with a can-do attitude
Ability to implement cost optimisation strategies within the spare parts management space
A team player with effective communication (verbal & written) skills
Computer Literacy – experience with Microsoft Office programs and other databases
