Full Time Fixed term opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Targeted) First Nations Health (Alcohol and Other Drug Research) Exciting for a Postdoctoral research fellow to join the Alcohol and Other Drug Research team Base Salary $122,830 - $145,858 17% superannuation About the opportunity We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a nationally recognised research environment focused on First Nations health, with a particular emphasis on alcohol and other drug research. This targeted position offers the opportunity to contribute to original, impactful research that informs policy, enhances community wellbeing, and supports culturally responsive health practices. You will be part of a collaborative academic team committed to advancing the university’s strategic research agenda and fostering innovation, engagement, and excellence in First Nations health research. Associate Professor Michael Doyle is a Bardi man and experienced Aboriginal health researcher at the University of Sydney. He leads the Aboriginal and Priority Populations team at the Edith Collins Centre, focusing on improving health service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with alcohol and other drug use issues, and those in the criminal justice system. This is a Targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Position. Preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent. This Exemption is claimed under Section 21 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. Your key responsibilities will be to: conduct original research in the drug and alcohol or prison health field independently or collaboratively, with a focus on publication, presentations, and funding maintain a developing research profile through scholarly outputs and conference contributions build research collaborations and engage in translational research to drive real-world impact contribute to competitive grant applications and research funding success supervise postgraduate students and provide informal mentoring to early-career academics engage with industry, government, and community to share research and foster partnerships contribute to the strategic direction of the faculty or school through active participation in meetings and initiatives promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, collaboration, and excellence support the university’s strategic agenda through research alignment and community engagement participate in public forums, seminars, and events to communicate research findings and enhance visibility uphold high standards of research integrity, quality, and ethical practice liase with Aboriginal organisations including Aboriginal community-controlled health services and Aboriginal community-controlled drug and alcohol services About you doctorate or PhD in a relevant field demonstrated research experience and a developing research profile proven ability to conduct original research and publish scholarly work experience supervising or mentoring students or junior researchers developing network of academic, industry, or professional collaborators identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
