About the Role
Our company is seeking a skilled and experienced Health Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our senior leadership group, you will be responsible for leading our safety function and taking a strategic view on health and safety across the organization.
This is not a clipboard-and-checklist safety role. You'll be instrumental in shaping a safety-first culture across the organisation - combining boots-on-the-ground credibility with the ability to influence senior leaders, operational teams, and subcontractors alike.
You'll have the backing of a business that genuinely prioritises wellbeing - and the opportunity to make a lasting impact through proactive systems, engaged leadership, and meaningful consultation.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Champion our zero-harm approach and lead visible safety leadership initiatives;
* Manage, maintain, and improve our integrated HSE management systems and documentation;
* Oversee OHS audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses;
* Lead the development and delivery of training and mentoring programs to lift safety capability;
* Partner with teams across Precontracts, Operations, and Delivery to embed safety early;
* Maintain company-wide safety reporting systems, legal and risk registers;
* Drive improvements to performance metrics, lead indicators, and safety outcomes;
* Support accreditation and compliance efforts, ensuring all legislative requirements are met;
* Represent us externally on OHS matters — with clients, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
This is a strategic role with operational influence - a rare opportunity to lead change while staying closely connected to the field.
About You
We're looking for an experienced safety leader with a practical mindset, high standards, and the ability to inspire others to live the values of safety every day. You're not just compliant - you're proactive, curious, and solutions-focused.
* Key Requirements:
* A Bachelor's degree in OHS, Civil Engineering, or a related field;
* Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS (or equivalent recognised qualification);
* Minimum 5 years in a senior HSE role within civil construction or infrastructure projects;
* Expert-level knowledge of WHS Act 2011, relevant codes of practice, and standards;
* Proven ability to lead HSE systems, investigations, audits, and risk assessments;
* Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to influence at all levels;
* Experience working with major infrastructure contractors, government clients, and subcontractors;
* Confidence to represent the business in audits, forums, and industry discussions.
Familiarity with safety performance benchmarking, permit-to-work systems, and emergency response planning is highly regarded.
