The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.

- Provide families with explicit, high-quality information to help them understand and navigate the child protection system.
- Support families to focus on their child’s safety and wellbeing, including self-advocacy or representing their views when needed.
- Build positive engagement with families and service providers to ensure family needs are central to support delivery.
- Assist families in accessing relevant services and attend meetings or court to provide ongoing support.
- Maintain accurate records and data in line with ALS policies and procedures.
- Uphold ALS values, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Work Health & Safety standards in all work activities.
