We are looking for 
Hornsby Heights Public School is seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Teacher Librarian to join our team for the 2026 school year. This is a four-day-per-week position, offering an exciting opportunity to lead and develop our school library and information services for K-6 students. 
Key Responsibilities 
Manage and maintain an effective library and information service that supports the learning and teaching programs across all primary year levels. This involves planning and programming units of work for K-6 classes. 
Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to develop students' information literacy and research skills. 
Provide quality reading experiences by recommending engaging and age-appropriate literature. 
Integrate contemporary technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. 
Foster a welcoming and inclusive library environment that encourages a love of reading and independent learning. 
Open the library during lunch times to provide students with access to resources and a positive learning space. 
Lead and coordinate the library monitors program. 
Organise and run special library events such as book parades, simultaneous story day and participation in the Premier's Reading Challenge. 
Selection Criteria 
Ability to organise and manage library resources effectively. 
Experience collaborating with teachers to support student learning through information literacy and literature and planning and programming lessons. 
Knowledge and application of educational technologies to enrich library programs. 
Commitment to promoting literacy and engaging students in a positive learning environment where positive classroom management strategies are evident.
