About The Role
We are seeking a values-driven Cook for our Geelong corps program to help with the preparation of meals for international students.
Reporting to the Corps Officer, this is a permanent part-time role, located in Moolap Street, Geelong, Victoria.
You will successfully:
* Plan diverse, nutritious menus catering to dietary and cultural needs within budget. Submit menu plans to management for approval.
* Prepare shopping lists, order supplies following TSA policies, and source food from the Geelong Food Relief Centre.
* Prepare, present, and serve meals with volunteers, ensuring food quality and minimal wastage.
* Supervise kitchen volunteers and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Maintain food preparation and storage areas to high cleanliness standards, following Australian Food Safety Standards and TSA policies.
* Implement service improvement strategies in consultation with the Program Manager.
* Provide exemplary customer service, receiving positive feedback and adhering to training and procedures.
* Follow relevant legislation and TSA policies, ensuring hygiene, safe food handling, and correct food temperatures.
* Keep all kitchen and lounge areas clean, safe, and hazard-free.
* Provide a welcoming, empathetic environment, modeling TSA values and supporting staff and volunteers to achieve goals.
You will have:
* Relevant qualifications and/or experience in food preparation and cooking in a commercial environment.
* Understanding of the use of relevant chemicals.
* Minimum two years previous food service experience.
* WHS – knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace.
* A national police record check is required.
* Empathy: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
* Flexibility: The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
* Working with Children Check (for Child Facing roles).
* Compulsory Code of Conduct, WHS and Bullying and Harassment training modules are completed and up to date.
* Driver’s licence preferred.

For Award Based roles: General Retail level 2
Compensation is in accordance with the relevant award.
