Metro Mining Limited (ASX: MMI) is an Australian mining company based in Brisbane. Metro’s flagship project, the Bauxite Hills Operation, located 95km north of Weipa at Skardon River, is one of the largest independent projects within the internationally acclaimed Weipa Bauxite Region.
We are seeking experienced Mobile Plant Operators who are eager to bring their skills and expertise to our growing company and are available for an immediate start.
Available roles
- Production Loader Operators
- ROM Loader Operators
- Moxy Operators
Each of these roles are on a 15/13 FIFO roster, giving you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.
As we are restricted by the Northern Queensland wet season, our operation shuts down in mid-to-late January for a period of around 8 weeks. Production roles are not required during our shutdown.
Role requirements
- At least one relevant RII ticket (two RII’s preferable).
- A minimum of 2 years’ mining experience, including demonstrated experience operating mobile plant such as Loaders (CAT 992 and 988), Dozers (D8-D10), Excavators (PC55, PC350, PC450) and Moxy.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence (C class, but preference for HC).
- Full, unrestricted rights to work in Australia.
- Successful candidates must be deemed fit for work following our pre-employment medical, including ECG and RSHQ MMQ medical (including Chest X-Ray).

Metro’s flagship project is the Bauxite Hills Mine, Skardon River situated approx. 95 km North of Weipa town in Cape York, North Queensland. Our mine is a single operating mine combining two Environmental Authorities covering the Bauxite Hills and Skardon River tenements with a simple flow sheet incorporating mining, hauling, screening, barging and transhipping into large ocean-going vessels approx. 10 nautical miles offshore with a capacity of approx 4 Million tonnes (Mt) per annum with an expansion underway to 7 Mt per annum.
The Mine has a JORC Reserve of 83.2 Mt and a total JORC Resource of 118.7 Mt and has been operating since April 2018.
