**Job Title**: Support Worker - NDIS Participant Support
**Location**: Stanthorpe, Queensland
**Hours**: 20 hours per week
**Start Date**: As soon as possible
**About the Participant**:
The participant is a parent living with his 13-year-old son who experiences Level 3 Autism and receives supports through the NDIS. The participant is also engaged with an Occupational Therapist (OT), Speech Pathologist (SPT), and Psychologist for ongoing treatment and capacity building.
**Role Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Support with personal care tasks and home-based strategies to increase independence (as advised by OT and SPT)
- Assistance with household tasks including meal preparation, cleaning/tidying, and task follow-through
- Medication reminders and support with appointment scheduling and attendance
- Support to develop and maintain parenting responsibilities
- Transport and accompany the participant to medical and therapy appointments
- Encourage and support the participant’s independence and community engagement
**Requirements**:
- Experience supporting participants with psychosocial or cognitive disabilities
- Understanding of parenting support and/or lived experience in similar roles (desirable)
- Robust communication and organisational skills
- Ability to follow strategies provided by therapists (OT/SPT/Psychologist)
- Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Driver’s license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle

- Patience, empathy, and a strength-based approach
- Experience in supporting executive functioning and memory strategies
- Ability to build trust and work independently while being part of a care team
**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $33.96 per hour
