What This Role Offers
Kimberley Community Legal Services (KCLS) is seeking a Senior Solicitor to deliver civil law services across Broome and remote West Kimberley communities. You'll work within a multidisciplinary team, combining legal practice with social support to improve outcomes for vulnerable clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide civil legal advice, advocacy and representation (family violence, tenancy, family law excluding property, child protection, estates, compensation)
* Supervise and mentor junior solicitors, PLTs and volunteers
* Deliver trauma‑informed, holistic services with social workers and other specialists
* Travel for outreach to communities, including Derby, Fitzroy Crossing and the Dampier Peninsula
* Contribute to community legal education, stakeholder partnerships and systemic advocacy
* Support service planning, reporting and reflective practice
What You'll Bring – Essential Experience, Skills and Spirit
* Admitted legal practitioner in Australia and eligible for a WA unrestricted practising certificate
* Minimum 2 years of civil law experience (5+ years preferred for Senior Solicitor level)
* Strong advocacy, communication, and plain‑language client support skills
* Resilience, adaptability and cultural humility when working with vulnerable clients and First Nations communities
* Valid WA C Class Driver's licence (or ability to obtain), working with children check (WA) and national police clearance
Highly Regarded
* Experience in a community legal centre or multidisciplinary environment
* Understanding of trauma‑informed practice
* Regional or remote service delivery experience
* Community legal education experience
Successful candidates will need (or be able to obtain) a current WA 'C' Class Driver's licence, a Working with Children Check (WA), and a National Police Clearance.
