West Gippsland Healthcare Group is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Deputy Director of Clinical Governance to lead the advancement of quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management across our organisation.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical governance systems that ensure compliance with national safety and quality standards, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and person-centred care.
You will bring proven experience in leading complex change initiatives and managing multidisciplinary teams with high-level management and project management skills. Your strong understanding of risk management principles and incident management will enable you to effectively oversee systems that mitigate clinical and organisational risks. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, will be essential as you engage with internal and external stakeholders, advise the executive team on critical quality and safety issues, and mentor clinical leaders to optimise governance practices. You will also have demonstrated expertise in coordinating accreditation processes and producing evidence-based reports, policies, and safety plans that drive improvements across the organisation. Your personal attributes of initiative, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently will allow you to motivate and direct teams in delivering safe, effective, and equitable care.

Our preferred candidate will have:
Accountability and initiative.
Experience as a health professional and/or five years senior management experience in related field, including management of a multidisciplinary team.
Recent demonstrated experience in National Standards Accreditation.
Recent demonstrated experience in the successful management of risks, through application of the Victorian Government Risk Management Framework (or equivalent), knowledge of Riskman and an oversight of the organisational risk register, risk maturity self-assessment and organisational attestation.
Recent demonstrated experience in leading accreditation activities across an organisation.
Demonstrated experience in managing incident management systems and processes.
Demonstrated understanding of consumer participation and person-centred care.
Post graduate qualifications in Quality, Clinical Governance or working towards.
The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:
Sound knowledge of Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare National Standards and accreditation processes.
Previous experience in clinical governance.
Sound knowledge of legislative compliance in the healthcare industry.
IMPORTANT:Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required prior to commencement.
