The Team
Women's and Children's Services (WACS) at Launceston General Hospital is a supportive, collaborative, family‐centred service committed to delivering high‐quality care for mothers, babies and families.
The Role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant – Lactation Consultant provides expert leadership in contemporary lactation care across WACS. This senior role delivers specialist clinical support to staff, patients and families while driving service improvement and evidence‐based practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide advanced clinical leadership and specialist lactation consultancy within professional and legislative scope.
* Support staff, mothers and families with complex breastfeeding needs across WACS.
* Build strong relationships with service providers across Tasmania to enhance access and continuity of care.
* Lead innovation, research and quality improvement in lactation services.
* Develop and implement clinical protocols and guidelines for the Lactation Service.
* Deliver education to nursing and midwifery staff to achieve and maintain Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) accreditation at the LGH.
Essential Qualifications
* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Accredited with the International Board of Lactation Consultants.
* Current Working with Children Registration.

* Holds or is working towards relevant postgraduate tertiary qualifications.
