About the Role:
Our Federal Government Client is seeking Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineers. This is a long-term contract role with an initial 36-month contract, with extension options available, located at our client’s Canberra (ACT) office – primarily onsite (flexible arrangements may be considered at the client’s discretion).
As the selected candidate, you will:
• Implement and manage secure Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure supporting enterprise ICT environments
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep and Azure DevOps pipelines
• Design and manage CI/CD pipelines with integrated security and compliance controls
• Configure and optimise Azure networking (VNets, VPNs, NSGs, Private Endpoints)
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to enhance ICT solutions
• Produce system design documentation, technical diagrams, procedures and policies
• Identify and manage risks, assumptions and dependencies across infrastructure delivery
• Ensure compliance with government ICT governance and information management standards
• Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to team members
To be successful in this role you should have:
• Proven experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer, Cloud Architect or Platform Engineer in enterprise environments
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure (Compute, Storage, Networking, Security)
• Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines and Bicep (Terraform also considered)
• Strong understanding of Azure networking concepts (VNets, Subnets, NSGs, routing, secure connectivity patterns)
• Experience embedding security and compliance controls within CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrated experience producing high-quality technical documentation and architecture artefacts
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to improved ICT practices
It is desirable if you have:
• Previous experience in a Federal Government or highly regulated environment
• Background as a .NET Developer
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerised workloads
• Familiarity with cloud security frameworks and compliance standards
Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with the ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance.
