The health services at Clarence have 3 modern health Centres that deliver appropriate health care standards to approximately 1,700 inmates from diverse backgrounds and cultures. You will provide primary care based on a patient-centred model, enabling patients to participate in their health management actively.
The team works closely with correctional staff to deliver holistic and integrated patient-centred health services that:
- Promote the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates.
- Ensure the safety and security of inmates.
- Foster a high standard of practice to facilitate safe healthcare delivery.
Role purpose
The key purpose of the Registered Nurse role is to support the medical management and health care of custodial patients, including but not limited to patient assessments, and the creation, implementation and management of patient health plans.
To Be Successful In This Role You’ll Have
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Minimum of 2-year full-time post-graduate experience (or part-time equivalent).
- Experience in primary health, rural health or emergency nursing (desirable).
- Will undergo a probity assessment, including a federal police check as an essential selection component for this role.

Opened in mid-2020, this 1,700-bed state-of-the-art facility is the largest correctional centre in Australia. Located on the NSW North Coast, the region offers diverse natural and cultural experiences.
