Aboriginal Sexual Assault Support Specialist
We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate professional to provide culturally safe and trauma-informed support to Aboriginal survivors of sexual assault. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to build and maintain relationships with partner agencies, and a deep understanding of Aboriginal cultural perspectives.
 * About the Role:
 * Provide specialist one-on-one counselling, support and advocacy to children and adults who have experienced recent or historical sexual assault in a culturally safe and empathetic manner.
 * Respond to crises in the emergency department, coordinating medical forensic care and collaborating with healthcare professionals and external services to ensure clients receive comprehensive support.
 * Work closely with other specialists to ensure clients receive empathetic, confidential and culturally safe care, fostering a sense of community and connection.
 * Engage in leadership roles, providing consultation and helping connect services supporting Aboriginal children and families, promoting positive outcomes and social change.
 * Participate in community events, connecting with Aboriginal communities on Country at local and national levels, building relationships and strengthening partnerships.
 * About You:
 * You will be an exceptional communicator, able to put clients at the centre of all decision-making and provide culturally safe and trauma-informed support.
 * You will possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with partner agencies, including mental health services, NSW Police and the Department of Communities and Justice.
 * You will bring a deep understanding of Aboriginal cultural perspectives and the ability to embed this into your work, ensuring that our services are responsive to the needs of the community.
