Are you passionate about creating safe and enjoyable spaces for families and children? Mackay Regional Council is looking for a dedicated Playground Maintenance Officer to help maintain and improve our parks and recreational facilities.
As a Playground Maintenance Officer, you’ll play a vital role in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining playground and recreational equipment across the region. Your work will ensure our community spaces are safe, compliant with Australian Standards, and ready for play.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual inspections and audits of playground equipment.
- Perform installations and repairs on recreational structures.
- Raise and close out work orders for maintenance tasks.
- Operate small plant and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Use tech devices for communication and data collection.
- Contribute to scheduled works and special projects.
- Uphold Council’s image while meeting stakeholder expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Operational inspection of park facilities, or willing to obtain.
- General Construction Induction Training.
- QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent.
- Medium Rigid (MR) Licence, or willing to obtain.
- Working at Heights.
- Relevant industry experience in general building maintenance and/or construction.
- Practical experience in the maintenance and operation of a wide range of machinery associated with repair/maintenance and general maintenance, including power tools.
- Practical experience planning and organising projects.
Desirable
- Comprehensive Inspection of park facilities.
- Operational inspection of park facilities.
- Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
- Practical experience in asset inspection and investigations including the use of asset data management systems.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Sound verbal and non-verbal communication skills and technological communication. Sound problem solving ability.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
- Sound ability to create and maintain accurate records in line with legislative requirements.
- Working knowledge of relevant plant and equipment.
- General knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, Local Laws and Policies pertaining to Parks and Reserves.
Desirable
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines and deliver identified outcomes.
- Sound client service skills including ability to deliver a quality service with attention to detail.
- Sound ability to write effective inspection reports as per Australian Standards.
- Knowledge of the principles of arboriculture.
Special Requirements
- Occasional out of hours work (including weekends).
- Regular local travel.
- Requirement to undertake physical work in a variety of outdoor environments.
