The office of Senator Nita Green is seeking applications for a full-time ongoing Diary and Office Manager, based in the Senator's Electorate Office in Cairns, QLD.
Position Overview
Senator Green is seeking an enthusiastic person with experience providing executive-level assistance and well-developed communication skills to fulfill this busy role in a supportive team environment. This position supports the day-to-day management of the Senator's diary, including appointments and travel, and is crucial to the ongoing success of the Office.
The key duties of the position include but are not limited to:
* Management of the Senator's diary, including appointments, travel, and other logistics
* Management of correspondence, including emails and mail
* First point of contact for constituent and stakeholder meetings
* Office administration, including invoice payments and management of supplies
* Constituent correspondence and case work
* Managing the office, coordinating responses to incoming letters, calls, and emails
* Ensuring the office provides timely service to constituents and community organizations
* Organising functions and meetings, and other duties as directed
* Promoting, supporting, and maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture
* Regular interstate and Canberra travel may be required, with occasional irregular work hours, especially during parliamentary sitting weeks
* Other duties as required to support the Parliamentarian and the effective operation of the Electorate Office
The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:
* Experience in a similar administrative role, highly regarded, especially in government or political settings
* Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail
* The ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
* A keen interest in and understanding of Australia's system of government and parliamentary processes
* Intermediate to advanced IT skills, including Microsoft Office programs
* Demonstrated professional integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
* A respectful demeanour when engaging with staff and constituents
Salary will range between $74,095 and $86,506, depending on experience and skills. An additional optional allowance of up to $35,793 may be offered to compensate for extra hours and travel. Relocation assistance, studies support, and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility). An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% applies.
Applicants should note:
* An initial probation period of three months, possibly extendable
* Requirement to undergo a National Police History Check
* Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers under Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act
* Employment conditions include obtaining and maintaining a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance and adherence to the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct
