Pacific Industrial Company (PIC) is a highly regarded privately owned company with a proud 55-year history as a recognized leader in the Australian steel fabrication and construction industry, providing steel design, fabrication, and construction services to the construction, mining, oil, and gas sectors Australia-wide.
PIC is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with strong financial and analytical skills, as well as solid interpersonal skills to engage with key stakeholders. As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for leading, maintaining, and enhancing the finance function of the business.
The position is based at our Naval Base office, reporting to the Financial Controller.
Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Perform month-end close, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting to management.
2. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and related financial systems.
3. Identify and resolve system discrepancies when necessary.
4. Deliver accurate and timely month-end accounts for management and the board.
5. Assist in the treasury function by maintaining a rolling cash-flow forecast and overseeing banking and payment runs.
6. Manage and lodge BAS, PAYG, and act as backup for the accounting and payroll functions.
7. Support the annual budget and audit processes, including building business cases for capex and M&A.
8. Maintain the fixed-asset register.
9. Provide strategic analysis and advice to support business operations.
10. Drive process improvements and support new system implementations.
11. Mentor finance staff.
12. Support other finance and admin tasks as required.
Ideally, the successful candidate will possess:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role preferred.
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting or equivalent, progressing towards CA/CPA.
* Confidence working with a mid-size ERP system and troubleshooting system issues.
* Leadership skills with experience mentoring finance staff.
* Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail.
* Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
* Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented mindset.
