This well known organisation requires a very senior, experienced Senior Modern Workplace Engineer to play a critical role in their future plans. You will be a key technical lead responsible for stabilising, optimising, and simplifying the organisation’s modern workplace environment across a large, complex enterprise. The role will see you focus on improving the end‑user experience, strengthening device and domain management, and reducing operational friction caused by poorly managed updates, inconsistent configurations, and legacy design decisions. The business supports approximately 12,000 managed devices and 20,000 users, operating in a highly regulated, mission‑critical environment and you will be seen as the go‑to technical authority for all aspects of the modern workplace stack, providing hands‑on leadership and deeper expertise. The role will see you: Establish a stable, well-governed SOE across laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and user profiles. Improve device management, software update control, and release governance to prevent disruptive changes from reaching production. Reduce service desk volume by addressing root-cause technical and architectural issues. Provide clarity and authority on how MS technologies should be configured and managed across the enterprise. Act as the technical owner of the modern workplace domain, including governance, design, and hands‑on technical decision-making. Lead and mature Microsoft Intune as the primary device and mobile management platform Provide technical leadership and mentoring to existing workplace engineers and operational staff. Environment & Technologies Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams) Microsoft Intune (Endpoint Manager) Windows 10/11 SOE management Identity and access management Mobile device management (iOS primarily) Cloud-first enterprise environment at significant scale Ideally your background will consist of: Senior-level experience in Modern Workplace engineering within large, complex organisations. Strong, practical expertise in Microsoft 365 and Intune, with a proven track record of stabilising poorly governed environments. Experience operating at scale (10,000 users/devices). Able to challenge poorly defined “vendor limitations” and clearly articulate what can and cannot be done. Comfortable bridging the gap between hands‑on technical delivery and strategic planning. Regulated industry experience is advantageous.
