Job Title: Payroll Team Leader
Overview:
The Payroll Delivery Section of a large Federal Government Department is seeking APS6 Payroll Team Leaders to undertake tasks of moderately complex to complex in nature, and work under limited direction.
This role requires good judgement and strong attention to detail in a dynamic environment. You will lead the payroll team to deliver payroll services, processing pay variations, leave entitlements, and interpretation and provision of advice regarding complex conditions of service.
* Responsibilities may include:
1. Processing/checking of pay variations including overtime and restriction claims, allowances, tax variations and salary sacrifice deductions.
2. Management of employee taxation and superannuation entitlements, including management of taxation and superannuation requirements for overseas engaged employees who are Australian Residents for tax purposes.
3. Processing permanent and temporary movements, non-ongoing extensions, home based work and part time work approvals.
4. Ensuring the Payroll team is ready for cut-off each fortnight and assist the Payroll Manager to run the fortnightly pay where required.
5. Processing and management of studies assistance reimbursements.
6. Calculation and processing of overseas posting and short-term overseas assignment pay entitlements.
7. Compensation payment processing. Processing pay increases and IFA allowances.
8. End of year processing, including payment summary processing and reconciliation, and ATO reporting.
9. Calculate/check final entitlements and provide advice on various separation entitlements (including redundancies).
Key Skills and Capabilities:
• Experience in effectively leading and managing a payroll team to deliver quality outcomes
• Ability to build the payroll team's capability
• Strong skills in payroll systems, helpdesk systems and Microsoft office products
• Qualifications in business management, finance/payroll, or human resources desirable
• Ability to effectively lead and manage a payroll team to deliver quality outcomes
• Well-developed written, communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to effectively negotiate and influence outcomes
• Exceptional customer service skills, including using initiative and the ability to foster effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels
