Mackay Hospital and Health Service Mackay is a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, servicing a population of over 180,000. The Mackay Isaac Whitsunday Region has a thriving economy that includes a diverse range of tourism, agriculture, industry, mining, education, and health industries. Mackay HHS has six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres that employ more than 3,300 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina. The Department of General Medicine manages patients with a diverse range of multiple active co-morbidities or undifferentiated illnesses above the age of 16 years that require ongoing inpatient, ward-based hospital care. We are a busy inpatient service with consultation and outpatient clinic responsibilities. Salary Benefits Remuneration value up to $163,700 p.a. comprising salary between $4,966.90 p.f. - $5,470.70 p.f. (L4-L7); employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), professional development allowance, and professional development leave 1.6 weeks Key responsibilities * Provide holistic care to patients admitted under Department of Medicine under the supervision of a staff specialist. * Participation to daily consultant-led ward rounds. * Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients in the emergency department, medical wards and outpatient setting. * Arrange and initiate clinical investigations and discharge planning as directed by the supervising consultant. * Participation in General Medicine or subspecialty outpatient clinics as directed. * Ensure comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records are maintained for all patients. * Participation in out-of-hours roster including nights and weekends. * Participate in teaching, quality improvement and professional development activities as directed. * Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
