About the Role:
Are you passionate about research and higher education? As a Graduate Studies Officer within Curtin's Graduate Research School (GRS), you will play a key role in supporting Curtin's Higher Degree by Research (HDR) community, working closely with PhD students, supervisors and researchers across Western Australia's largest university.
In this role, you will support the administration of HDR programs by applying your knowledge of policies, procedures, systems and governance to deliver high-quality advice, sound decision-making and efficient administrative support. You will guide HDR students and supervisors through complex processes, providing personalised support within a highly regulated and intellectually engaging environment.
You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of GRS policies, procedures and systems, helping Curtin maintain its competitive edge in research excellence. Working collaboratively across GRS, you will be part of a professional, supportive team committed to outstanding service and meaningful outcomes for the research community.
The salary range for this role is between $83,283 - $91,103 (G05) per annum and we have three full time, 12-month fixed term contract positions available (with possibility of extension).
Your responsibilities will include:
* Administering end-to-end HDR candidature workflows, including applications and admissions, enrolments, milestones, variations, research support funds, candidature progression, thesis examination and scholarships, ensuring accuracy and adherence to required turnaround times
* Providing high-quality advice and support to HDR students, supervisors and key stakeholders, and liaising with University service areas to resolve issues and support smooth operations
* Monitoring HDR student progress and wellbeing, identifying potential risks early, and providing regular updates and reports to the GRS management team
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support effective communication, timely information sharing and a positive service experience
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery, processes and the overall stakeholder experience
Who we are looking for (selection criteria):
* Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality customer service, with a proactive and hands-on approach to service provision
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion and policy knowledge to determine appropriate actions
* High level organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail and meeting deadlines
* Developed communication skills, including strong cross-cultural awareness, sensitivity and diplomacy
* Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and build positive working relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
* Advanced computer literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience in financial reporting or financial administration
* Experience using student enrolment systems and/or other complex databases
Role Requirements:
1. As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
