About the Role
An opportunity exists for an experienced and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team of 8 staff. This role combines direct support of a participant both at home and in the community. You will be part of a team supporting a young lady to live her life. You will be providing tailored support based on her unique needs and preferences. You will work closely with her to help her develop life skills, promote her independence, and engage in the community.
Must be able to work weekends (7am-2pm or 2-9pm) and occasional active nights 9pm-7am in addition to shifts during the week.
Immediate start required.
Key Selection Criteria:
Essential
* Experience with complex disabilities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail, problem solving and team building skills
* Proven ability to support a person-centred, active support environment
* Familiarity with the NDIS and quality/compliance frameworks
* Strong digital literacy (using apps, digital records & shift systems)
* Strong documentation skills
* Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and solution-focused in changing situations
* Previous SIL experience would be an advantage
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one support to an individual helping them with daily living tasks, personal care, and community participation.
* Assist in developing communication, social, and independent living skills.
* Implement a personalised support plan that align with her goals.
* Engage her in recreational and capacity-building activities, both in-home and in the community.
* Work collaboratively with family members, allied health professionals, and other support staff to ensure a holistic approach to care.
* Document her progress and maintain accurate case notes.
* Promote a positive and safe environment, respecting her rights and dignity at all times.
Essential Requirements
* Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability), Community Services, or a higher qualification (preferred or working towards).
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (required)
* Current First Aid & CPR (required)
* Driver's Licence (required)
* NDIS Workers Modules (required)
* Australian Work Rights (required)
* Minimum of one year experience in the disability or community services sector preferred but not essential.
* Demonstrated understanding of NDIS Practice Standards and Positive Behaviour Support principles
* Experience supporting people with complex needs
