Support Worker Role
We are looking for suitably qualified Support Workers to cover a variety of shifts:
* Weekday Day Shift: 9am to 5pm
* Sleepover Shifts: Monday to Thursday 5pm to 9am
* Weekend Day Shift: 8.30am to 5.15pm
As a Support Worker, you will work alongside young people accommodated in our Youth service in supporting them to build practical skills such as budgeting, cleaning and cooking as well as personal development and wellbeing skills.
The role involves providing in-home support for young people to undertake supported and/or independent responsibilities including tasks such as food shopping, cleaning, cooking, and managing paperwork.
You will also provide outreach and support young people to connect to various activities or appointments that are important to their development.
Additionally, you will provide support to young people in attending to their hygiene, health and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Providing in-home support for young people to undertake supported and/or independent responsibilities.
2. Providing outreach and support to young people to connect to various activities or appointments.
3. Providing support to young people in attending to their hygiene, health and nutrition.
4. Working alongside Youth Case Managers in supporting young people achieve their goals and in facilitating case coordination with a range of stakeholders relevant to the needs of young people connected to the program.
5. Ensuring that the household is a safe, non-threatening environment.
6. Ensuring day-to-day household operations procedures are followed.
We are looking for someone who has:
* Minimum Certificate 4 or Diploma in Youth Work
* Experience in working with young people in a similar youth work related role
* Understanding of the cultural and social factors of homelessness and other crisis
* Cultural competence and experience working with people from diverse backgrounds
* Experience in responding to alcohol and drug issues
* Strong understanding of the principles of Trauma Informed Care
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
* Possession of a current Working With Children Clearance
* Possession of a First Aid Certificate
