About the Role:
Airlift Hovercraft is seeking an experienced Boatbuilder with strong skills in vessel assembly, fit-out, and engine/system installation. You will play a key role in the production of our innovative hovercrafts, working across all stages of the build process—from structural assembly through to mechanical, electrical, and interior completion.
Key Responsibilities
* Build hovercrafts to specification, including structural assembly, fit-out, and mechanical systems.
* Complete detailed interior and exterior fit-outs to a high standard.
* Install, align, and test propulsion systems, including engines and supporting systems.
* Work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
* Perform quality checks to ensure safety, integrity, and performance at every stage.
* Diagnose and resolve issues during installation and fit-out.
* Collaborate with engineering and design teams to improve build processes and meet deadlines.
Requirements
* Proven boatbuilding experience, with expertise in fit-out and assembly.
* Knowledge of hovercraft or similar vessel construction (advantageous).
* Skilled in working with fiberglass, composites, and metals.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
* Proficiency in marine engine installation, alignment, and testing.
* Working knowledge of marine electrical and plumbing systems.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience building medium-sized marine vessels.
* Familiarity with advanced construction and assembly techniques.
