Job Title: Unix Technical Expert
Job Summary
We're looking for a highly motivated and passionate mid-level Unix Engineer for Windows Citrix and VMware technologies in the Telstra Defence Operations Data Centre Operations Team. This role will focus on the Defence Terrestrial Communications Production Network (DTCN). You will have the opportunity to help build and integrate new products into the DTCN environment.

The opportunity
This is a great opportunity for a technical expert with around 3-5 years of experience (though we are of course open to hearing from you if you have a little more) that's looking to further accelerate their career in the Data Centre Ops team.
This role can be based in Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane or Sydney, Australia. This is an office-based role (5 days a week) with scheduled RDOs available.

What you will do
The Data Centre Operations Team supports both the production and pre-production environments for the Defence Terrestrial Communications. This role's primary focus will be on the operations of the production environment. However you will also get the opportunity to work on the Defence Canberra Integration Laboratory (pre-production and integration) to prepare solutions for deployment into production.
In this role your focus will be on Unix Administration. You will also get the opportunity to work on a varied number of technologies:
VMWare Virtualisation
F5 Load Balancers
HP Compute
Lenovo Compute
Other things you will cover:
You will be responsible for all facets of managing the DTCN platforms.
Restore elements to working order.
Proactively look for potential issues.
Manage changes within the environment.
Maintain the DTCN Baseline.
Look for opportunities to improve the DTCN platforms.
About You
Hold a minimum of active and valid NV1 AGSVA security clearance (this is essential).
Around 5 years of technical experience in Unix.
You're comfortable being office-based 5 days a week.
Experience in Security Management and Project Management
Demonstrated experience with ITIL Service Management (Fault, Problem, Request, Change, and Asset Management).
Proven ability with recovering from setbacks and are a self-starter.
Proven ability to administer Windows Operating systems.
Proven ability to manage Citrix XEN Desktop or equivalent.
RHEL certification (desirable).
Windows Administration certification (desirable).
Juniper Network Administration certification (desirable).
Requirements
All candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a minimum of NV1 AGSVA security clearance to be considered. This role will require you to gain or hold and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance.
