The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Garment Technician to join the team at our Support Office in Malvern!
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, you will be primarily responsible for developing garment specifications from sample development to bulk production. You will focus on achieving on-time sign-off of all products and managing our external suppliers to ensure quality standards are met throughout the production process.
This hands-on role involves all aspects of development and production, working closely with internal teams to create ranges for our retail and wholesale divisions, supporting our brand's growth. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in garment construction, fit, manufacturing, and a keen understanding of finished product quality.
Responsibilities include:
1. Interpreting garment designs and developing specifications.
2. Collaborating with the Product Development Team to understand product briefs.
3. Creating accurate specifications with detailed garment construction and fit information.
4. Briefing external suppliers with technical packs, ensuring clarity for efficient sampling.
5. Coordinating fittings as needed.
6. Addressing issues with suppliers, test houses, or standards with QA and Technical Managers.
7. Managing BSR items for consistency across deliveries and seasons.
8. Ensuring timelines for sign-off are met for bulk production.
9. Supporting product development with information on new styles, construction, and quality.
10. Sharing knowledge on fit, construction, and fabrics seasonally.
11. Communicating quality standards clearly to the supply base.
12. Reviewing performance issues and store feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications preferred, with 5-10 years of menswear experience.
2. Experience creating and communicating garment specifications to offshore suppliers.
3. Proven skills in garment construction and pattern making.
4. Experience negotiating with offshore suppliers.
5. Strong understanding of garment manufacturing processes.
6. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and graphic applications like Illustrator.
7. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
8. Willingness to develop and improve procedures and systems.
9. Proactive problem-solving skills.
10. Commercial acumen, results-driven, with a focus on budgets, margins, and profit.
11. Positive, proactive attitude.
