The Youth Support Worker provides compassionate, trauma-informed support to vulnerable young people in a residential setting. The role focuses on creating a safe, welcoming environment, promoting independence and life skills, and empowering youth to achieve positive outcomes. You will work closely with a dedicated team to deliver person-centred care that supports young people on their journey to stability and wellbeing. Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
Providing trauma-informed, person-centred support to vulnerable young people in a residential setting.
Creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, and home-like environment.
Supporting young people to develop independent living skills and follow individual care plans.
Contributing to team operations through accurate documentation, communication, and participation in meetings and training.
About you:
You are a compassionate, reliable, and adaptable team player with strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people. You demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity, and you're dedicated to continuous learning and providing person-centred, trauma-informed care. Your ability to build trusting relationships helps empower young people to develop independence and resilience.
You will also have the following skills and experience:
Certificate 4 in Child, Youth and Family Interventions, Youth Work, Community Services, or related field.
Previous experience in working with vulnerable and at-risk young people.
Experience working with Aboriginal people and communities in the provision of support services.
Demonstrated ability and experience to work within a team setting.
Ability to practice appropriate level therapeutic interventions
